Hhhmmm....hard to tell. What os are you running?
What indications of "a sudden rise in Internet
activity" are you seeing? Have you run any
port-to-process mapping tools to see what app is
generating the traffic? I'd recommend fport.exe for
NT/2K, 'netstat -ano' for XP, or TDIMon for
Win9x/ME...
