Hi Kevin...
I just had to try and test it 2 days ago for a customer..
To be honest, I didn't try the security aspect, but only the features (not gateway, just plug-in) and the ease of use...
I personnaly find it VERY easy to use, and a good idea... You don't need to install a PKI, share Private/pub key, etc.... But you need to trust Sigaba.
They create a new key for each mail you send, and encrypt the mail with AES (Ryndael) 128 Bit key. You just have to register with them, give an E-mail addresse, confirm, etc... Any time you want to send a mail, you need an internet connection.. that's a disadvantage.
An other good point is that with their web interface you can decrypt received mail anywhere in the world (CyberCafe, etc...)
They have a good whitepaper at http://www.sigaba.com/products/whitepapers/Technical%20WP%2010-4-01.pdf and at
http://www.sigaba.com/products/whitepapers/intro_secure_email.pdf..
I found it very usefull, and they have some good features like Mailing list management, etc....
The plug-in exist for Outlook, Eudora, Lotus Notes, Yahoomail (IE) and Hotmail (IE). Size of plug-in is about 400K. Very stable (Tried on Winnt and Win2K with Outllok 98 and Outlook XP.) I know some Lawyers company in US and worldwide who use it. Corporate Policy..
And more : Without Gateway and server : IT's FREE...
Should you need more info, Contact me Off list.
Regards,
Max
