Hi List,
this is my first post to the list.
I´ve a small network connected to the internet via DSL and a Zyxel-Router.
I´m happy with that, but friends, who are upgrading to DSL and begin building
their own networks are asking me:
Is it better to have a
- hardware router like a Zyxel or Netgear....
- software router like Winroute or LINUX-software
in terms of security.
I think both can be made secure, but for "normal" users a HW-router might be
better since they do NAT/PAT out of the box and are therefore quite secure.
So I recommend the HW-router.
What does the collective wisdom of the list say?
Thanks
Albert
