NMAP is one of the original command-line open source tools for port
scanning, and os fingerprinting. Nessus is another, adding additional info
including vulnerability assessments. Both are Linux based, although NMAP
has been ported to the MS platform.

Good luck....

Subject: Port scanning

If I wanted to see what ports are in use on one of my Win98 clients, and
possibly what services are using them, what would I have to use? Do I need
to buy a port scanning utility package or is there something I can run from
a command line? Thank you in advance.

Manny
