    ('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) You mentioned scanning from the external so my question is if there is a firewall that is blocking port scans? This is possibly what is affecting your scan progress.
    My personal experience is that NMap is much slower than the other tools you mentioned when scanning ports 1-65535.
