Another potential solution is to use httptunnel
(http://www.nocrew.org/software/httptunnel.html)
It is usually used to create a "tunnel" over HTTP from the inside of a
firewall. It supports proxies.
It can also be used to create reverse tunnels. Check their mailing list.
