Strange I was under the impression that like the Caching engines they
where infact *BSD based (not sure if it was FreeBSD or OpenBSD).
Certainly very interesting to find out.

I remember in the older NetCaches you could after firmware upgrade get
to the boot levels prior to the caching software/layer, as it
occaisionally got confused about which scripts/programs to start. Can't
say I've seen this type of behaviour on the 5.x software though.

I ask some contacts at NetApp for some more info,
