I can't reproduce this on Solaris 8.
If it can be reproduced then yes it is a bug and it should be fixed.
I can asure you though there have been no changes I can think of that
could cause this and I know this area of code pretty well.
What nameservice were you using ?
What patches do you have on (if any).
I suggest to progress this forward that you log a support call with
Sun Enterprise Services (assuming you have a contract).
