OpenSSH runs on the Interix UNIX subsystem provided by Services for UNIX 3.5
[http://www.microsoft.com/windows/sfu]. In Windows Server 2003 R2 and Vista,
Interix is renamed to the Subsystem for UNIX Applications (SUA)
[http://tinyurl.com/dy9bc]. Interix/SUA is a subsystem that runs on top of
the NT 5.x kernel parallel to the client-server runtime subsystem (Win32)
and provides a (mostly) full UNIX environment. It was forked from OpenBSD by
Softway Systems before being acquired by Microsoft.

OpenSSH can be used for secure copy of files as well as encrypting TCP
channels to services running on the Windows Server. For example, you can
tunnel SQL Server 1433 through SSH and you can tunnel RDP 3389 through SSH.

OpenSSH for Interix is actively maintained by Rodney Ruddock of
InteropSystems. There is a minimal one-time membership fee to access the
"Interop Tools Warehouse" portage for Interix which includes OpenSSH. Check
    it out at [http://www.interopsystems.com/tools/warehouse.htm]
