I did installation on a number of our developer servers and production
staging servers. All seemed to go pretty well except for one server
that ran into a metabase service problem. Once the reboot took affect,
all seemed okay but will monitor the situation. That was one out of 10
servers that were updated with sp4

Yes - the same thing happened to my test servers. I can change the icon
back via shortcut properties, but I haven't been able to figure out why
they changed in the first place. The shortcuts still work, so I'm
wondering if it's a glitch in the SP4 installer since it seems to affect
only servers....

Subject: SP4 installation
Hi All,
I did install the sp4 on two workstations and two servers.
All went okay except for one of the servers which is our PDC. Once the
installation was finished and system rebooted most of my Admin Tools'
such as AD users&computers, .. as well as all MS-Office icons and
shortcuts where changed to the "unknown type" the one that looks like
windows!
I must say clicking on these icons still runs the application. I tried
uninstalling SP4, but to no avail!
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Hossein
