The easiest way to test is to setup a test pc with Win XP SP1 and no
critical updates. Create an OU for it and apply a Group Policy to that
OU. Let it sit overnight and recheck the critical updates via Windows
Update. You should see the majority of updates applied. If not, check
    the following items:
    1. Make sure that you have approved updates on your SUS server.
    2. Make sure that your clients have either Win 2000 SP3, Win XP SP1, or
    the SUS client installed.
    3. Make sure that you have the latest ADM file:

    4. Make sure that the Group Policy Configure Automatic Updates
Properties is set to 4 - Auto Download and Schedule the install.
    5. Try to force the policy update with gpupdate.exe or secedit.exe.

    Subject: SUS server

I have configured a test SUS server. It downloads the patches fine, but
I can't seem to get the client to connect and download patches. I set
Windows Update in the Group Policy to "enable", and set it to the server
"http://peter" (the name of the test SUS server). How do I know if it
is actually connecting to it? It doesn't mention Thomas (this computer)
connecting to it in the SUS log, but it does say that it successfully
d/led the patches to Peter. How do I check? When I go to "windows
update" in the Start menu that just connects me to Microsoft's page...
