I recently happened to look into the 'Current User' Certificates MMC snap-in
(this is on a Windows XP Pro system).

Apart from what I take to be the standard folders (10 of them), I also find
three empty folders, two with names with chinese-looking characters, and one
with a name of one letter apparently unsupported by the typeface used, and
shown just as a box. (Can't find a way to 'get' at the characters to include
    them in this mail.)

This appears odd - has anyone encountered anything similar?

I can't think of a reasonable scenario that would create only empty folders
    without any certificates.

There was this certificate enrollment problem reported in August, but that
was described only to delete certificates, not to add new entries into the
    certificate storage.

I get an inordinate amount of chinese/korean spam, so I suspect there
may have been some with harmful contents.
