since it is on a private LAN, what about a generic PPTP VPN? NT4 supports
it as does W2K.

Subject: Secure connection between Win2k and NT4?

Hi Guys,

I'll cut to the chase. I have a need to setup an encrypted connection
between two machines on a private (192.168) LAN. One is running NT4 (server
or wks) and the other Win2k advanced server.

I can (and have) set this up using a secure (SSL) FTP connection, but this
costs $$s for the server license and cert. I have also been looking into
using MS IPSEC, but I can't seem to find a client\driver that will run on
NT4. PGP is another option but I have never used this.

The question is, is it possible set up an encrypted connection between the
two machines (NT4 & W2k) for little or no cost, and if so what method do you
recommend?

Thanks,
