I am not 100% sure this is what you are looking for but I believe it will accomplish what you want.

I would suggest using the IEAK which you can download freely from MS. There is a portion of the build process which will allow you to pull all of the settings from the system you are running it on. Then place the build on a network share where it can be backed up and you will have a permanent copy of your current configuration. If space is an issue you can remove the cab files to conserve space but make sure you leave any configuration files in place.
