Hello!
Does anyone have experience with HFNetCheck Pro in an NT only
environment, preferably even with a samba PDC?
Iīve downloaded the hfnetchkpro free version to test if it works in our
environment (NT SP6a Workstations, Linux Samba Server as PDC
and fileserver). Everything went fine, I can scan remote machines
and the results match a local scan. I can download the patches, they
show up as downloaded and can perform a successful test install
which says that the patch can be deployed. Since I can call the
remote procedures I donīt think that the problem is related to our
samba PDC.
Actual deployment (either remote or local) does not work though, I
get the message: "In the free version you can only push operating
system patches to machines. There were no patches to deploy with
the current selection. Make sure that you are not trying to deploy
'found' patches..."
Iīve tried this with several different OS patches (all in the NT 4
category) without success. Shavlik tech support responded quickly
but didnīt really adress the issue so I am not sure if this is a
limitation of the free version (which goes against what itīs advertised
to do) or if itīs an issue with our environment. Iīm interested in
buying the product for our lab (which I made clear to the tech
support... ;) ) but I have to be sure that it works.
Any help/input appreciated.
Andreas
