Agreed. 100%. It's been a blessing and curse for me
personally...as a consultant, specializing in Win32
systems has had the ultimate effect of allowing me to
have a bank account. On the opposite side of the
coin, having to admin MS systems has been a bear, to
say the least.
Having to pay consultants to review an architecture,
gather data and provide an analysis is one thing.
Having to pay a vendor who has purposely built
incredible layers of complexity into their systems and
then charges for tools to identify and fix the
problems that arise is, as you say, insulting.
