Hey Marnix! Hope all is well... So, you are saying that it only checks for
updates when I am actively browsing the web with IE? That seems kind of
odd, but even so, one of the boxes is one that I am on multiple times a
day, and I access the net on it all the time. Is the automatic update
query a standard HTTP request? Now, you say "actual connect"... I am
connecting to the Net over the LAN, so it always has a connection to use.

No, not the Dynamic Update setup option- this is where you tell XP to
automatically check for critical update for you so you will always be
advised when one is available. (System, Automatic Updates tab) Other
people have emailed me offline saying they have no problems. I'm not sure
what is going on...
