John,

We have the same problem. Locally, our users have Outlook connected to an
Exchange server, have many mapped network drives, and our ISA proxy requires
authentication. If the user doesn't log off instantly, one or more of these
network connections will attempt to authenticate with the old password. Our
domain has a lockout policy in place.

The odd think of our situation is that remote users who attempt to change
their password via web pages (on local Win2k web server) are not connected
to the NT4 domain at all except their browser (basic authentication). They
experience the same behavior. I can't explain it.

Local users can avoid being locked out by logging out and logging back in
with their new password. Remote users seem to be out of luck. If you find a
better answer, please let me know.

All,
   A user is logged in. Said user changes password. User can longer access
network resources and if user logs off and attempts to log back on, they
are told their account has been locked. What is happening is the account is
locked immediately after a password is changed and yes users have their home
drives as well as other drives mapped. Thanks guys
