Something else I was thinking about.. QCHAIN.EXE

I'm assuming that when you download a Critical Updates package only, which
has multiple hotfixes in it, that QCHAIN.EXE gets run after all the hotfixes
install to sort out DLLs and what not. Or am I totally wrong and MS
packages different for windowsupdate website?

Lets assume QCHAIN is used. This is now a QCHAIN question. If I do d/l a
critical update FIRST from windowsupdate, then reboot, and then download a
security rollup which happens to have XYZ.DLL that is older than an DLL from
the critical update, and QCHAIN gets run before this next reboot, does
QCHAIN now know to sort out the DLLs and leave the DLL that was previously
installed?

Subject: windows update download order

Does the order at which one downloads patches and updated off windows update
matter in a similar fashion to it would if you were applying hotfixes
manually?

The reason I ask is, by default, windows update wants you to d/l critical
updates first. In the case of tonight, there are critical updates which are
older than SRP1 which is also on windows update.

If I d/l critical updates, and reboot, then get the SRP1 off windows update,
am I running any risks of having SRP1 overright something that the
previously downloaded critical update has installed?
