We are running Windows 95C boxes on our floor which are connected to an
NT4.0 network. We have restricted policies enabled on the floor machines to
restrict access to network files and unneccesary applications. The desktop
has been disabled and all users have custom start menus. We removed access
to the Control Panel and Windows Explorer. I was wondering if it is possible
to allow someone with restricted access to access the network print Queue to
cancel/pause print jobs? I tried creating a shortcut link in the start menu
to the specified printer but Windows doesn't recognize the location of the
link. I have also tried making a shortcut to the Printers folder in Control
Panel, but it keeps asking to map the printer port over and over again. I
was looking at 3rd party software package packages to manage printers, but I
don't want these users to be able to manage any printers on the network. Is
there anyway around this, or a setting in policies that I have missed to
allow this to work? Thanks in advance!
