I checked them, I can download the file from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/xml/security/1.0/nt5/en-us/mssecure.c
ab
extracted it in the same directory with the exe. But I still get the below
error. I've tried hfnetchk -v -z -x s:\security\hotfixfile.xml without any
change

The server that I'm trying to run it on is a NT 4.0 SP6a with MS01-044
installed.

I would check the TCP/IP settings of the two machines that are having
problems. I am currently testing the program and I am not having any
issues. First things I would check are the Default Gateway, Subnet
Mask, DNS servers.

Hi, I get the following error message (2 out of 3 systems) when I try to
run the MS patch-scanner: <<Start>> hfnetchk -x mssecure.xml Microsoft
Network Security Hotfix Checker, 3.1 Developed for Microsoft by Shavlik
Technologies, LLC info@shavlik.com (www.shavlik.com) Unable to load the
XML file from the following location -     mssecure.xml Possible
reasons:  - Your machine is not connected to the network.  - The XML
file is temporarily unavailable.  - The XML file could not be found at
the specified location.  - The XML filename and/or path is not correct.
<<End>> I get the same error message on a W2K Prof. Workstation (SP 2)
and on a NT 4 Server (SP6a), but the scanner works fine on a W2K Server
(test server). So the XML file is downloaded from Microsoft without
problems and works fine with the W2K Server. The possible reasons
metioned in the error message don't make sense to me... :-( Any idea how
I can get rid of this problem? Any help appreciated. Regards, Tom
Schmidt
