According to the web site you and I found on google they say the error
disappears installing glibc-devel-static, but it appears to me, that this
error is specific to Conectiva Linux Distro, maybe that's what Paulo is
using.

A quick google search shows that it may be necessary to install
glibc-devel-static and/or glibc-devel (the site's in Portuguese, so the
fish was a little shaky in the translation).
