Hello,
just in case you or someone else want to do it with a webserver:
I have a setup with an apache & samba server on the same box (also
redhat). the apache runs only on ssl. user authentication is done via our
ldap server against apache, so apache knows whom to trust.
The apache is set up with webdav, so everyone who wants to access our
samba server can do this with various webdav-enabled clients (for example,
Internet Explorer -> Open as Webfolder).
It's a nice setup and for the people in my organization it's now much
easier to access their files on the road.
Greetings, Christian
