Hi list,
I want to ask to list for the opinion on Checkpoints Smartdefense. For
the past and current users , how enough/successfull do you find it as
an ips for your enterprise? Do you use additional ids/ips if so what
purposes and to monitor what segments/parts of your infrastructure.?
And how do you deploy, manage Smartdefense?

It's not very granular.
It does consume a lot of resources on the firewall (you might not want
that to happen).
It's not very customizable. Don't even think of adding custom made signatures.
It cost only a fraction of what would cost you a dedicated IPS (such
as Proventia or Cisco IPS) if you already have Check Point VPN-1.
Easy to implement, you only have to apply the signatures you want
through SmartDashboard.
