The following email was forwarded to me by our CEO. He has asked me to
post this to the list in response to the recent string of emails
regarding some concerns about NFR.

List Participants,

I have read with considerable interest the recent thread that has been
referencing NFR Security and thought it might be of value to clarify the
situation.

First of all, any rumor of demise is totally unfounded. In fact, the
situation is the exact opposite. We made three successful acquisitions
in 2001, doubled our revenue performance during the same period, and
significantly increased Q1 2002 revenue performance over the comparable
period last year. We now have about 600 customers.

Unfortunately, rumors about the demise of companies are sometimes
initiated by competitors who find it difficult to compete on any other
basis. Sad, really.

In one of the messages I read, there was a question regarding Marcus
Ranum who decided to leave NFR a few months ago. It was his decision
and he did so amicably. To use his own words, he felt the time had
come when the Company no longer needed his input. In other words, we
have a solid technology roadmap / vision in place, and a very capable
development organization to deliver it. Marcus continues to be a very
large shareholder in NFR, has a significant interest in its continued
success, and is available to the Company for consulting purposes.

A little over a month ago, NFR made a series of significant
announcements about our direction, and about several new technologies we
were in the process of releasing. These included dramatic performance
improvements to the best network based detection engine in the market
(now gigabit ready), and a multi-dimensional host based agent that
scales to support 10,000+ hosts. The feedback from those customers who
have evaluated these capabilities has been extremely positive.

Like every technology in the space in which we are participating, ours
is evolving - and more rapidly now than ever before. We are delivering
the end-to-end intrusion management system we defined in one of our May
announcements, and are continuing to evolve it. If anyone participating
in this list would like to learn more about where we really are please
feel free to contact me directly. I will assure you receive a timely
and accurate response.

One caution, however, we will not disparage our competitors, as some are
wont to do. Philosophically, we don't approve of such tactics. We are
more than comfortable competing fairly on the merits of our own vision,
product capability, and customer support.
