April of 2001, actually. We did one in 1999 as well, but that is *really*
out of date. The 2001 article is a bit old(er) now, and a lot has
changed. Products like Centrax are gone (with pieces of it coming out in
NFR), there are new hardware NIDS players like TippingPoint and Intruvert
coming onto the scene, ISS just released RealSecure v7.0 which merged
BlackICE and ISS' traditional NIDS, Cisco just released the 4250 (a gig
equipped sensor), Intrusion has made a number of improvements in
SecureNetPro, etc.

However, while April of 2001 is a while back, I will humbly suggest that
many of the points raised in that article are still true today. But
Network Computing does need to put a new one version out, agreed, and rest
assured that it is in the works. :)

Does anyone know how, EXACTLY, SC Magazine determines a winner? I opened
up an issue the other day and every single vendor had five stars. What's
the friggin point? Why not just re-gerg the press releases and slap five
stars on there? First place for everyone! Yeah! Yeah!

I wouldn't put a lot of weight to their "reviews" until someone figures
out what the heck they are doing over there. :)

Just my .02,
