YES! Since the first answer to my post, I got the "demarc" address, and indeed it was what I've been looking for. :) I saw it before but I lost the bookmark :(

I've been developing some projects around this kind of remote monitoring but PHP is quite slow when used with too many entries, while perl could be faster. That's why demarc can work slightly better than any PHP-based system...
