IDS Sensor on ATM

Subject: IDS Sensor on ATM

Hi all,

         There are any ways to install o NIDS on a ATM network ?
         My problem is: one ATM backbone, lots of fast ethernet subnets.
First option is to install one sensor on each subnet (this is the best
solution in my opinion because you can monitor the internal subnet activity
also), but this will not be possible (budget constraints - the customer
have a policy to not use free software :-( . Second option is to have a
sensor installed on the backbone, monitoring just the traffic between the
subnets. I am not aware about any NIDS that can monitor traffic on a ATM
network. Anyone?
