Have you tried ssh-keygen without a passphrase? the switch
ssh-keygen -t dsa
gives you the option of having an empty passphrase, at least on FC3 and
our home-grown version of Linux. I'm not sure about Solaris, but if
you're using openSSH, it should be the same.
