The number of CPU's is only partially relevant to the situation however.
Sun recommends 400Mhz of ultrasparc CPU per gigabit adapter. If the server
is CPU-bound - lots of oracle servers are - there might _not_ be enough
horsepower available to adequately drive the gigabit.
CPU-bound, driving gigabit, and encrypting, might be too much to ask.

as i recall, the same holds true for gigabit.
