I'm using ssh to connect to work, and doing port forwarding to get my
email and other services that work offers. I forward my http connections
to a web proxy at work in order to access internal web pages, and at my
ssh shell login I often get this error message:
channel 10: open failed: connect failed: Operation timed out
The channel number changes each time. The effect this has is that it
takes a long time to download a web page from work, and I can see that
for most of that time no communication is being sent to or from me to
the web server (or proxy).
I am currently on dialup, but I also saw this problem while I had
broadband internet.
I'm running openssh 3.5 on a Gentoo Linux box (i386). I'm connecting to
a solaris 2.5.1 server. Not sure what ssh it's running.
If anyone has seen this problem and could help me fix it I'd appreciate
it. This problem slows down an already slow dialup connection.
Thanks.
