Another thing to remember on smaller, less used programs having no
security histories is that they are just that, smaller, and less well
used. I a program is in the mainstream, then everyone wants to take a
crack at it and see what they can break, if it is used by a smaller
userbase, then it will be "less vulnerable" due to the fact that less
people have tried to find vulnerabilities. Now, this may not be the case
with all programs of course, some of them might actually be more secure,
but it's just a thought to keep in mind.
