ICECast Remote Code Execution
------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY
<http://www.icecast.org> ICECast is an audio broadcast system that
streams music in both MP3 and Ogg Vorbis format.
The ICECast server under some conditions cannot handle a certain number of
HTTP headers in a request. A long HTTP header would then overwrite the
return address of the processing function, thereby allowing code
execution.
DETAILS
Vulnerable Systems:
* ICECast server versions 2.0.1 and prior
Immune Systems:
* ICECast server version 2.0.2
In some environments (like in Win32) a request with more than 31 headers
causes the overwriting of the return address of the vulnerable function
with a pointer to the beginning of the 32th header.
In short, is possible to execute remote code simply using the normal HTTP
request plus 31 headers followed by a shellcode that will be executed
directly without the need of calling/jumping to registers or addresses or
using other annoying techniques.
A proof of concept by Luigi is available from
<http://aluigi.altervista.org/poc/iceexec.zip>
http://aluigi.altervista.org/poc/iceexec.zip
A payload provided by Delikon for Luigi's PoC, which downloads netcat and
opens a remote port is pasted below.
Vendor Status:
The vendor has fixed the security issue and a newer version is available
for download. Users are highly encouraged to upgrade accordingly.

Because of all the forbidden bytes in a http get request
i had to use a very small shellcode, which was blown up
by Msf::Encoder::PexAlphaNum. Great encoder.

/*
in my example 0xcc is used to interrupt the code execution, you must
put your shellcode exactly there.
You don't need to call a shellcode offset (CALL ESP, JMP ESP and so
on) or doing any other annoying operation because the code flow
points directly there!!!
Cool and easy 8-)
