      PopMessenger Broadcast Crash
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    SUMMARY

    " <http://www.leadmind.com> PopMessenger operates as a LAN-based instant
messaging system allowing for immediate rich text message and files
delivery over corporate network. You can communicate with all the users on
the network or choose specific user group (e.g. Level 2 managers) or send
    private messages."

Due to a Base64 decoding problem when handling messages, a condition
arises in which the application will crash after receiving several
    malformed messages.

    DETAILS

    Vulnerable Systems:
     * PopMessenger version 1.60 and prior

    Immune Systems:
     * PopMessenger version 1.60 (version hasn't changed), from the 20th
    September

The messages exchanged with this program are encrypted with the Blowfish
algorithm and then converted to plain-text with Base64.

The problem is located in the Base64 decoding function because the program
shows an alert dialog if there are illegal chars in a message (like % or
_). After about 15 consecutive dialogs the program crashes.

A working proof of concept example can be found at
