XiRCON Vulnerable to a Denial of Service
------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY
<http://www.xircon.com> XiRCON is an IRC client that appeals to users of
all skill levels. Instantly usable, endlessly configurable. A security
vulnerability in the product allows remote attackers to cause a denial of
service attack against the product by sending it arbitrarily long buffers.
DETAILS
Vulnerable systems:
* XiRCON version 1.0 Beta 4
By issuing any of the following commands to a remote host using XiRCON:
/ctcp [nickname] [471b]
/privmsg [nickname] [473b]
/msg [channel] [473b]
/notice [nickname] [473b]
Where the second value is the length of the buffer sent, it is possible to
cause a denial of service of the client, effectively rendering it in
operable.
