  DoS on IRSSI
------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY

 <http://www.irssi.org> IRSSI is a modular IRC client for UNIX systems. It
runs on text mode user interface, or on graphic mode user using GTK+. A
security vulnerability in the product allows attackers to cause the
product to crash, thus causing a denial of service attack.

DETAILS

Vulnerable systems:
 * IRSSI version 0.8.4

Immune systems:
 * IRSSI version 0.8.5

A DoS attack can be produced against the IRSSI client by causing the
client to join into a channel that contains a long topic with the
following characters at its end: "\x1b\x5b\x30\x6d\x0d\x0a".

Patch:
IRSSI developers have been informed, and have released a new version
(0.8.5).
