COWS Contains Multiple Security Vulnerabilities
------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY
<http://www.cows.co.uk/> COWS (CGI Online Worldweb Shopping) is an easy
to use solution for e-commerce. The product has been found to contain
multiple security vulnerabilities ranging from cross-site scripting, to
path disclosure.
DETAILS
The COWS scripts contain several CGIs that are vulnerable to attack:
diagnose.cgi and compatible.cgi
Both these scripts when accessed give a wealth of information on the
remote host. Further, a vulnerability in them allows remote attackers to
exploit a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the product causing it to
return unfiltered HTML and JavaScript code.
Example:
/diagnose.cgi?<script>MALICIOUS SCRIPT</script>
Or
/compatible.cgi?<script>MALICIOUS SCRIPT</script>.
browse-no-frames.pl
When the CGI is access with a malformed URL, an error will return, the
error page will contain the full path where the CGI is located.
Example:
/browse-no-frames.pl?group=path%20disclosure
