Just one more tidbit on this issue, as WU v5 is having massive problems
since they rolled out the second activex (look at the WU newsgroups).

If you are running SUS SP1 with associated GPO settings, v5 will, in my
tests, no longer allow downloads. This is because it tries to use the
SUS client instead of the v5 control. This was gathered from the windows
update logs. Of course, the SUS SP1 client has no clue what the new v5
download dialog is about and therefore can not start it.

V5 also seems to modify the behavior of SUS as in my tests it only
downloads the updates to the client from SUS and gives a message of
updates ready, but never starts the install without manual intervention.

MS has thus far made no response to a fix or workaround, although they
seemed to acknowledge the problem in the MS newsgroups.

B. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
C. Click the Security tab.
D. Click the Trusted sites icon.
E. Click the Sites button.
F. Clear the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this
zone check box.
G. Use the Add button next to the Add this Web site to the zone box to
add the following sites:
http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com
H. Click OK.
