Joe,
I have seen this as well. It seems to be a matter of timing. While you
downloading the patches from Windows Update, AU also scans and begins to
download the same patches. Once AU has finished download the patches it
presents them as ready to install without verifying that they are still
needed. Having a "setup" ou that doesn't push SUS policies may be one way
to avoid this problem. We just let AU and SUS apply the patches during
the setup process.
