    Well documented command line switch...

    Extract the service pack files with "WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe -x"

    and then run "update.exe /passive /forcerestart /n /f"

    That will not keep backup files; however, Microsoft STRONGLY urges everyone
    to consider if this is in their best interest. There are many programs
    that have issues with SP2 and if you don't have an uninstall option you may
    be stuck with starting over. The recommendation from the ßeta groups is to
    do the install as designed with full backups then dump the $uninstall....$
    folder to a CDR. That way if you need it you can move the folder back to
    the original location and do the uninstall.
