I have been researching this issue for the last 3 months. And while
Microsoft is deadly silent on the issue, I have found others that are
    experiencing the same problem.

The Problem is that once the client installs SP4 for W2K, the group
Policy scripts stop running. I have verified that the scripts do not
run by putting in statements to create files on the computer. With SP3
and SP2, the files are created, the drives are mapped, and all is well.
But with SP4, nothing happens. I have searched the knowledge base and
the newsgroups and I know we are not alone. But the few articles
Microsoft has on the subject are - #1, irrelevant, and #2, useless.

I am wondering how many others out there are also experiencing this
problem. We have halted the implementation of SP4 at this time due to
this issue. While it does not take a rocket scientist to manually map a
drive, most end users find it beyond their ability, and with 10k users,
we do not have the time or manpower to map everyone ourselves.

I appreciate any feed back on this issue. As I said, we have tried all
the KB fixes that microsoft has published, and even contacted our MS
rep. But nothing is working, including our Reps mouth.

    Thanks

Marcus Ranum's new book "The Myth of Homeland Security" is now out and
is available from http://www.amazon.com/ranum In this hard-hitting
review of the homeland security business, Ranum shows us how the problem
is vastly harder than it's being made to sound, and how special
interests, *** covering, and bureaucracy are threatening to derail any
    chance of making progress.
