Giving IE the boot?

    I've been experimenting with various "other" browsers for about 2 months now as it's become increasingly clear that Internet Explorer as the corporate default browser is a very risky choice anymore and hasn't gotten any better. While I haven't decided between Mozilla or Firebird yet, both are very capable and Firebird shows tremendous promise for a v 0.7 browser still in it's infancy. Myself and several of my power users are pretty much Firebird converts loving it more every week that goes by.

    Okay, now for the reason I posted this. Since we all know IE is so embedded into the operating system, how vulnerable is a system to IE exploits even if you're running another browser as default since getting rid of IE from XP or W2K is pretty much impossible (so I'm told)? I gather Outlook's HTML parser is dependent upon some of the same components (get mixed opinions on this one) as IE/OE. Anyone ever tackled and documented this before?
