Unannounced revisions to MS patches

    The following data was copied from the Automatic Synchronization log of
    Software Update Services. It tells what has been downloaded from Microsoft
    to the local SUS server.

    In addition to the new patches, please note the large number of patches that
    have been "updated", or revised and re-released - 20 by my count, although
    some merely address different versions. For example, there are three
    patches for three versions of JScript.

    I believe that, in the past, some revised patches were released via Windows
    Updates. However, over the last few months, I've noticed that these
    re-released patches generally go unannounced, and don't appear to be
    accessible via the Windows Updates website. Computers relying on Automatic
    Updates do not get them either. I believe that anyone downloading the
    specified patches for manual installation gets the revised version.

    The only notice from Microsoft that I have seen in some time, regarding
    revised patches, has been the SUS log file.

    I thought this issue might be of interest to some other folks out there. I
    might also be stupid, blind or otherwise in error. If so, please set me
    straight.
