    Russ,

As I sent before, the Portuguese Brazilian version of Windows 2000 Server is affected by the "language specific compatibility issue". Unfortunately, I tried to download the portuguese-brazilian version of the patch, and received an error saying it is not availiable.

When I tried to download the patch again minutes later, the option for the portugese-brazilian version of the patch disappeared (there is a portuguese-portugal version of it tho).

Basically, users of the portuguese-brazilian versions remain with the compatibility issue (lots of applications refuse to load, giving the kernel32.dll / mpr.dll error message). The only option left is to uninstall the patch until it is published again.

Marcus Ranum's new book "The Myth of Homeland Security" is now out and
is available from http://www.amazon.com/ranum In this hard-hitting
review of the homeland security business, Ranum shows us how the problem
is vastly harder than it's being made to sound, and how special
interests, *** covering, and bureaucracy are threatening to derail any
    chance of making progress.
