I was researching easier ways to deploy these Office 2000 & XP updates
than client by client installations. Unfortunately, I found that
Microsoft is now recommending that this client by client patch
application is the best way to go.

I think it is a subtle joke, but on that page they actually recommend
using EMAIL to distribute these patches. I hope it is a joke... You
know Microsoft, always testing us to see if we're really reading.

Oh well, in my search for an alternative to client by client patching,
I ran across an inventory tool for Office 2000 and XP. This is
available at http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/xp/journ/offutool.htm

I got the files downloaded, everything setup like they recommend, and
inventoried my PC. As it turns out, there's an additional download for
that which contains an 'updated' version of the XML file that contains
the list of patches. This is available at
http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates/InventoryCatalog.html

Unfortunately, this 'updated' inventory catalog was last updated May
14th, 2003. Does anyone have an idea when this might get updated?
