After running my script over the weekend, I've learned from some mistakes
and fixed a bunch of bugs. Some notable changes:

My script would try to install Win2k SP4 on WinXP. Oops. At least it
didn't work, and didn't break any machines.
The script now sets the PC's time and displays it before it starts doing
anything major. I did this so I could more easily guess if a machine seemed
    to be hanging up.
Checks for free disk space are now performed for service packs. (This was
the main reason the scripts would hang up.)
The "dopatches.cmd" script now takes an input filename as an argument.
More errors are trapped and handled.
    Fewer useless global variables.

I targeted about 600 machines over the weekend, and successfully installed
the patch (plus any required service packs) on all but 40. Of those 40,
most were across a slow wan link that made service pack installation
    impractical.

Apologies to the 1144 (!) people who downloaded the first version of my
script. I put the new version in the same place
    (http://shockley.net/ScriptDownloads/ms03-026-Upgrade-Script.zip), and the
    old version is at
    http://shockley.net/ScriptDownloads/ms03-026-Upgrade-Script.old.zip if you
want to compare them for some reason.
