FYI: antivirus firms routinely find security holes in their own products.
They quietly "slipstream" each security patch into their regular antivirus
updates, all without the customers' knowledge. Yet these same antivirus
customers will demand that Microsoft identify every security hole so they
can decide whether or not they'll install a particular patch.
The antivirus industry -- now a full-blown cartel -- long ago decided their
customers should remain in the dark about antivirus security holes and
antivirus patch failure. Symantec merely follows the overall desire of the
industry/cartel.
I don't say this to get you angry at Symantec or any other antivirus firm.
I merely state a well-known truism in the antivirus industry. Frankly, I
believe customers as a whole *want* to believe in the god-like perfection of
their favorite antivirus firms.
