    Hi all,

    >This is my first post to this list, so please don't be too harsh.
It's my first post too and I have something to say about this issue ;-)
It's a know problem with no link with MS03-007

Macromedia issued a Technote with ID 18258 for resolving this problem.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
ColdFusion MX (on multihomed servers) displays wrong page

If you have Macromedia ColdFusion MX Server installed on multihomed web servers (web servers with two or more virtual webroots), and if multiple files have the same name in each virtual webroot (for instance, there is an index.cfm in several of the virtual webroots), the first file loaded will display for all virtual webroots instead of the correct file for each virtual webroot.

This issue is caused by a performance tuning setting in the file at cfusionmx/runtime/servers/default/SERVER-INF/jrun.xml. While this setting enables single virtual websites to run slightly faster, it causes multihomed servers, in certain cases, to display the wrong page. Apply the settings below to all multihomed servers.
    WorkAround
To modify the performance tuning setting for all multihomed servers, use the following steps:

    Open the file jrun.xml.
On Windows systems, the default location for the file is:
    C:\cfusionmx\runtime\servers\default\SERVER-INF\jrun.xml

On Unix-based systems, the default location is:
    /opt/coldfusionmx/runtime/servers/default/SERVER-INF/jrun.xml

Find the entry named "cacheRealPath" within the file. The default for this setting is "true," as shown here:

    <attribute name="cacheRealPath">true</attribute>

Change the entry to "false," as shown here:

    <attribute name="cacheRealPath">false</attribute>

Save the file. Stop and restart ColdFusion MX.
    ----------------------------------------------

    Hope this information help you!

    All,

This is my first post to this list, so please don't be too harsh.

This is just a "heads up" and maybeof help to others in a similar situation.

We have applied MS03-007 on two of our servers running Win2k and Cold Fusion MX. On subsequent testing we were getting strange results where the 1st or default web server on an multihomed system gave us 404 errors on everything except the default page. Other sites responded fine.

We removed the patch, both through an uninstall and through the Recovery Console method described by Russ. In neither case was the problem resolved.

We have not done thorough testing on this to determine exactly what happened, but have resolved the problem by using the following procedure

    Stop the WWW service
Stop the IIS Admin Service (if its running)
Run the Remove_ALL_Connectors batch file in CfusionMX/bin/connectors Run the IIS_connector batch file in CfusionMX/bin/connectors Restart the WWW service

One on of the servers we then had IIS grinding to a standstill that was fixed by a restart, we are still investigating what may have gone on there.

The servers now have the patch installed and are working with Cold Fusion MX.

    Best Regards

    James Downes
