    On Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional:
The patch supplied by Microsoft in the Security Bulletin MS02-071 caused the Group Policies in place enforcing the screen saver timeout and password protection to stop working. The Group Policy set the screen saver to be used, the timeout and to password protect the screen saver. It also hid the screen saver tab from the end-user. After the patch is is applied, the screen saver tab is available and the end-user can change ALL screen saver settings.

Microsoft was made aware of this problem (via email) in mid-January with no acknowledgement as of this date.

    Regards,

    Doug Griffith
