Further to my note yesterday. If you install the MS02-058 patch on a system which has already had Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or Windows XP SP1 installed, you'll get an error message stating you need IE 6.0 to be installed.

Microsoft have now confirmed this behavior as being erroneous. The error message is caused because the system has already applied the patch since its included in those two service packs. Microsoft have updated the bulletin's "Caveats" section to advise about this issue. I strongly doubt there will be a revision to the patch to correct the wording.
